It kills the bacteria by preventing them from forming the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is needed for them to survive. It treats many different types of infections caused by bacteria. These infections include otitis media, strep throat, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, gonorrhea and Lyme disease. Cepraxim is only for the treatment of bacterial infection, not caused by viruses.
